Hope everyone’s having a lovely Spring and making the most of the gorgeous weather we’ve had recently. You wouldn’t believe it looking at these sunny photos, but we battled snow and storms during shoot for the Woodies DIY Summer Magazine . Despite the challenging weather, it was a real pleasure to work with the team again, having styled their Christmas Magazine a few months back. Doreen Kilfeather certainly worked some serious magic, managing to grab whatever moments of sunshine that appeared over the snowy few days to capture the kaleidoscope of colours throughout their current range. Other than one very dubious behind the scenes shot which involved the whole team huddled under a tarpaulin trying to stop a fully set table from blowing away, we managed to beat the infamous Irish weather and pull off the images below!
Doreen has an amazing way with children so it was lovely to get to work with the little ones we enlisted again for this shoot. We had lots of fun gardening and playing with potted plants and flowers from the adorable children’s gardening range they have in stock at the moment. Perfect for getting kids playing out in the garden and to have a go at growing their own flowers or vegetables.
One of my favourite details from the Summer range are the Kilner drinks dispensers. So often I have engaged couples looking for these for their drinks reception and I’ll definitely be picking up a few for my next gathering. They look great filled with lemonade or simply water and mint and are a really pretty way of providing drinks for a group.
One of the most neglected spots in my apartment at the moment is our balcony. It’s a really nice space but for some reason we’ve never got around to properly kitting it out to make it a fully functioning space. Good thing I got to indulge all the ideas that will eventually get put in place for this urban oasis balcony set up. There’s nothing like a selection of plants, flowers and greenery to breath life into a space and the natural wood furniture would look great in any setting.
So there you have it! There are five key looks for the current Summer range, Colourful Dining Alfresco, Elegant Outdoor Living, Chic Conservatory Space, Urban Oasis Balcony and Summer Garden Romance. You’ll find full tips on how to bring the look to life in your own space in my write up for the Woodies website.
