Two posts in one day?! I know, I’m losing the run of myself…trust me it’s very unlikely to happen again, so don’t get your hopes up! The reason for this unprompted flurry of blog activity is a wonderful project which I’ve been meaning to join for a while. One of my favourite reads which is guaranteed to put a metaphorical spring in my design obsessed step, is Besotted. In honour of the change to a new season they have invited anyone who would like to participate to join them on a weekly exploration of inspiration and imagination, sharing something meaningful set in motion by a key word or prompt. The idea is that we all need a little help to be brave and unlock our creativity, which I think you’ll agree is a brilliant idea. I’m a bit late to the game, missing out on Emerging and Muse, but today I’m sharing what inspires tranquility in my life.
“The voice of the sea is seductive, never ceasing, whispering, clamoring, murmuring, inviting the soul to wander in abysses of solitude.” Kate Chopin
Quite simply, nature is my tranquil balm. When things get a little hectic and I’m losing my sense of self, a walk on the beach, or among trees can always be relied upon to give me a little perspective, clear the cobwebs and find my tranquility. I took this shot very quickly over the summer on the way to a meeting. I was under a bit of pressure time wise but as I drove past the beach in Malahide in Dublin, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get a taste of that fresh salty air on the sea breeze. I pulled the car over, hiked up over the grassy bluff and took a few moments to gather myself and listen to the waves. The clarity of that moment kept me going for the rest of the day and reminded how much I need to take time out for moments like that.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what the word for next week will be, are you tempted to join in? You can read all about it and how to become part of this project here. Thanks to the ladies of Besotted, Miss Michelle and Miss Tristan B for bringing it to life!
