Happy Monday everyone! Hope all my stateside readers enjoyed an Oscars soireé last night, and for those of you on this side of the pond, that you’re looking forward to watching the highlights tonight! When I spotted this adorable oscars inspired party over at Style me Pretty today, I couldn’t wait to share the DIY starburst idea with one of my styling clients. We have been struggling to find a place card idea that would bring an extra little sparkle to the table. While there’s a lot to be said for a pretty folded card with each guests name on it (I opted for that choice for my own wedding!) sometimes it can be nice to do something more out of the ordinary. So in that spirit, I thought I’d share my favourite (and easy!) DIY place card ideas.

Although not specifically intended as a place card, this styrofoam ball and cocktail stick creation would be ideal for displaying a little placecard. See the full DIY instructions here.
A slightly more advanced DIY option, but just couldn’t resist the dip dye wood block effect. Perfect for a contemporary city wedding. See all the details here.

I recently discovered flower frogs in my flower arranging adventures, but little did I know they would be the perfect alternative placecard holder. Find them in most good floristry supply shops and simply spray paint gold (or a colour of your choice) like they did here!

If you don’t fancy buying supplies, look outdoors! Leaves, stones, and pinecones can all be beautiful ways of displaying placecards, or used as the placecards themselves! This pinecone tutorial would be lovely for a winter wedding!

Craft shops and children’s art shops can be a wealth of resources. Little farm animals spray painted white and tied with a little tag would be a gorgeous way of bringing a little personality to the table. See the full tutorial here.
So I hope I’ve inspired you to think outside the box a little bit when it comes to table decor. Though bear in mind with all DIY projects, make sure you have plenty of extra pairs of hands and help!

Great ideas! My fav is this one: dip dye wood block
