Happy Monday everyone, or if you’re not to happy to be back to the start of the week here’s a gorgeous wedding to help you escape for a little bit! One of the most influential decisions in the wedding planning process is the choice of venue, get this bit right and you can be confident all the other elements will lead from there! Today’s gorgeous couple, Christine and Paul knew they had hit the jackpot when they discovered Marlfield House early on in their search, and you’ll soon see why they were so smitten! The fantastic Christina of Brosnan Photographic worked her magic and captured all the love and thoughtfulness that went into their big day!
“Marlfield House in Gorey, Co Wexford was always high on our list of potential venues and we visited there very early in our search, somewhat on a whim one Bank Holiday Monday about 18 months before, we made the decision on the spot to book; we ceased all further searches for the perfect venue, as none could come close in terms of ticking the boxes we had set out for our day.”
Christina’s eye for detail really shows off the beauty that the house has to offer, and having the ceremony and reception in the one place, added to the whole experience even more.
“I presumed that we would spend weekends over many months viewing various potential venues but it was on that late Monday afternoon that we knew we could be no happier. Thereafter, the planning & booking were effortless, from the selection of menus to the timing of the ceremony.”
If a picture could spell timelessness and glamour I think this would be it, totally gorgeous! Christine looks like she stepped straight out of a classic hollywood romance and this sense of elegance can be seen as inspiration for the whole day. With Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly influenced style choices you can never go wrong!
“My dress was a tea-length blush toned gown that had a 1950’s Hollywood look and this inspired the bridesmaid dresses – black 1950’s prom style and the beautiful vintage O’Hara Roses that were used in my & bridesmaids’ bouquets. Our hair & make-up were simple & elegant and inspiration for both certainly came from referencing looks fashioned by Audrey Hepburn & Grace Kelly.”
In terms of the styling for the venue, Christine and Paul let the beauty of Marlfield speak for itself! A great point to keep in mind if your venue has a charm of it’s own.
“I personally like to keep things as simple as possible. I was wearing an intricate dress and Marlfield House is a beautifully ornate venue with yards of beautiful silks & chintz, so I believed it best to keep all other details minimal. We did not have a theme per se but certainly the old worldliness of Marlfield House helped very much in terms of selecting my dress – a nod to vintage and that was the basis for so many further decisions.”
Christine’s champagne Justin Alexander dress is certainly a showstopper, it’s lovely to see more brides opting for tea length dresses! The buttery tones of Christina’s photography show off the dress beautifully, but more importantly highlights just how crazy these two are about each other!
Now there is a photo that sums up what a wedding is all about! Lovely to see a couple enjoying every moment of their day, just as they wanted to. As Christine says, keep the bigger picture in mind and don’t worry about the small stuff!
“Don’t stress too much about those last few lbs or your nose in side profile, on the day none of these things will matter a hoot, you’ll be too busy smiling & enjoying the best day of your life, only wishing it would never end…”
Sounds like wise words to me! Any other thoughts to share with future brides with the benefit of hindsight?
“I would advise setting a realistic timeframe to plan your wedding and also a realistic budget: it’s all in the details! I would also recommend trusting your instincts: if you fall in love with a venue or dress that you adore, don’t feel compelled to continue searching in vain just to prove to yourself or others that you have exhausted all options. Wedding planning is time consuming and not always an enjoyable task, so when you do stumble across some key element that ticks all your boxes, have the confidence to take the plunge.”
Christine and Paul it looks like you followed your own advice perfectly and had an absolutely wonderful day. Wishing you many more happy years ahead, thanks so much for sharing your day. Huge thanks also to Christina of Brosnan Photographic for giving us a glimpse of such prettyness, always a pleasure! And plenty more to be seen in her blog!
