To be honest, todays real wedding is so undeniably gorgeous that the photo below is all I need to convince you that you’re in for a treat! Yes ladies and gentlemen, that is a field of daisies, in Ireland, in the sunshine! Miracles do happen with the weather every now and then, but to be fair to Joanne and Shane, their innate and rocking style sense would have shone through regardless, all captured under the beautiful eye of Magda Lukas!
Joanne and Shane chose one of the most beautiful places in Ireland to get married, the lovely fishing village of Glandore in West Cork. Not only are they a stunning couple, (I should have known Joanne is a talented hairstylist the minute I spotted her immaculate golden waves!), but they went out of their way to bring a sense of prettiness and personality to their wedding day.
I love the photo above, if that doesn’t look like two people ecstatic about starting their new adventure together, I don’t know what does!
They certainly haven’t gone the conventional Irish wedding route, and there’s more than a few unique touches about the day! Who wouldn’t want to drive out of the church in a twenty year old mini? (Probably can be considered vintage at this stage!)
They also took some risks in their clothing choices for the day. Would you believe Joanne’s stunning dress is from French Connection?! And handily for you, the exact same dress is currently for sale in the Preloved Marketplace, so if you like what you see, get it before it’s gone! It’s so refreshing to see a groom who hasn’t succumbed to the usual wedding attire rules. With his raybans, contemporary cut suit, and skinny tie, Shane looks like a rock star! Irish grooms, take note!
I’ve had the pleasure of performing with Sound of Serendipity at The Rectory in Glandore before, and it’s always been a pleasure. Judging by the welcome Joanne and Shane received, their experience was no different!
The intimate, and warm red room in the seaside country house was decked out with an array of colourful wildflowers, spilling from vintage china. They also chose to have a pyramid of cupcakes instead of one wedding cake, adding to the colourful feel of the reception room.
One of my favourite details from the day (even if it is impossible to pick one!) are the pretty tea dresses that Joanne chose for her bridesmaids, accessories with mismatched statement jewellery.
Magda Lukas did such a beautiful job of capturing all the whimsical details of the day, from the vintage suitcases, to the pretty china and clever diy doily table plan. Such a simple but effective way of displaying information to your guests!
Clearly the good weather behaved for the rest of the day, and I’ve no doubt that the party continued long after the sun went down!
So there you have it, pretty amazing right? Just goes to show that staying true to your own style and character as a couple doesn’t have to be about expensive and extravagant details. Simple and personal touches not only result in a beautiful wedding day, but also one that feels like an authentic and memorable experience for you and your guests! So go be brave and think outside the box!
Thanks Joanne and Shane for the amazing inspiration, and wishing you all the best with your married life! Huge thanks also to Magda Lukas of Moments and Memories Photography for allowing me to share such a beautiful and unique wedding! Go see some more beauties on her website!
