Mystical Lakeside Styling…A Real Irish Engagement (Part 1)
by Inspired by Love, Photography by Sona

Happy Friday everyone! This is a particularly special day for me as it’s our first wedding anniversary (again?!) Having had two ceremonies does make it a bit confusing, but on April 27th last year, we shared our wedding vows in the South of France, in the company of all our family and friends. What a year it has been, filled with new beginnings, challenges and lots of new friends, but throughout it all, I’ve loved every minute of getting to call Rian my husband!

It seems fitting that I have such a special shoot to share with you today, one that I had the honour of styling, thanks to the fantastic Sona from Inspired by Love. Sona has been making some exciting changes to her business recently (if you haven’t seen her new website yet, go see!), and as part of those changes, she has invited me to come on board as a stylist for her clients.

Of course I jumped at the chance, and we decided the best way to showcase the potential for a styled shoot was to make one a reality! In my eyes, a styled shoot offers the opportunity to capture the essence of a couples style, personality and story and crystallize that special relationship through beautiful images.

The lovely Victoria and Chris (a beautiful couple, inside and out!) were happy to be part of the styling fun, and embraced the experience from start to finish. They chose the stunning location of Lough Gur, in Co. Limerick, where Chris had surprised Victoria with a picnic on their first Valentines day together!

By getting an insight into their likes and dislikes, how they met, and the overall experience they were hoping to get from the shoot, I was able to come up with inspiration boards reflecting their love of laughter, whimsy, and nature! Sona did all the hard work on the day, and captured a stunning set of photos that I’m sure they will treasure forever! To be honest, there were so many beautiful ones to choose from, I’ve decided to break it up into two posts! Part one took place on the shore of Lough Gur, so be sure to stop back in on Monday to enjoy part two, a whimsical picnic among The Grange Stone circle, built around 2000 BC!

To make the most of the morning light, we met in Limerick at sunrise, so I found myself embracing a bit of DIY at 3am to create the floral garland you see above! It was a surreal but lovely moment, when I realised just how much I love the world of styling! You know if you’re willing to get up for work at 3am and love every minute of it, you’re onto a good thing!

So I’m excited to get the opportunity to work with Sona again, and create more beauty with her lovely clients! If you think a styled engagement shoot would be something that feels right for you and your other half, don’t hesitate to say hello and see what vision we can create for your love.

Huge thanks to Victoria and Chris for being a dream to work with, it was a wonderful day and fun from start to finish! And thanks again to Sona for giving me the chance to get involved! I’m excited to share Part 2 on Monday, but if you need a little glimpse to tied you over for the weekend, go take a look on Sona’s blog to see more of her talent! Have a great weekend everyone!
