Hello again, I’m back in the Emerald Isle! Despite the jet lag, the time spent away has left me invigorated, inspired and so excited for the potential adventures that lie ahead! Working with Joy Thigpen, and meeting so many other amazing wedding folk was such a privilege. It’s definitely going to take some time to process and take in all I experienced in Serenbe over the last few days, so today I thought I’d share with you what motivated me to go there in the first place…styling!
Today is a particularly exciting post, as it’s the first time I get to share some of my own styling on Style Serendipity! Christina of Brosnan Photographic, and I are huge fans of the tv show Pan Am, so when she mentioned she wanted to capture an engagement shoot inspired by that era, and had sourced a 1960′s Cessna Skyhawk at Newcastle Airfield, I jumped at the chance to bring all the details together!
I wanted to capture the glamour and sophistication that characterised the early 60′s in America, and at the same time convey Rachel and Simon’s love story! Aren’t they just gorgeous? They were both so great to work with, embracing the vintage fun from start to finish! I’m already looking forward to seeing pics of their wedding in Cork this Summer!
It was so much fun finding their outfits and the extra little details to complete the look! JFK pioneered preppy off duty fashion for men of the era, so this was the basic starting point for Simon’s look, while Rachel’s waist nipping dress and lady-like cardie were the perfect canvas for the all essential chic accessories!
Rosa Ospina took their look to a whole other level with her stunning hair and make up skills, while Ailbhe from Pretty as a Picture created the perfect vintage boarding pass ‘save the date’. Many of you know how big a fan I am of Christina’s work and it was such a thrill to get to work with her on the other side of the lens! All in all it was a pretty dream team to work with! You can see more gorgeous pics of the shoot (among many many other amazing posts!) on Christina’s blog!
Huge thanks also to everyone who let me feature the vintage gorge fest which brought the whole shoot together! It was so refreshing to see what a great range of quality vintage items are available in Ireland now! If you’re looking for a piece of your own fashion or design history, I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Dirty Fabulous, Miss Daisy Blue, Turquoise Flamingo and Mercury Goes Retrograde!
