There’s a little bit of colour inspiration coming at you today, and to me, nothing spells sophistication like a black and gold colour scheme! I’m imagining a contemporary city wedding with these boards, high in sophistication and glamour.
I wish I had an occasion (and the wallet!) to buy the Carolina Herrera gown above. It would be a stunning unorthodox wedding gown or a sophisticated bridesmaid option. Couple that with gold jam jars (sprayed and used as drinking glasses, an easy DIY!), an indulgent cake and elegant invites and you have the wow factor!

If you like the idea of black and gold shades but don’t want it to dominate the day, lighten the look with little touches of colour balanced with a neutral palette. Opt for gold shades in your shoes or a layer of your cake. I love the gold cutlery, I thought it might look a bit ott but judging from the images, in the right setting it looks amazing! Or check out this DIY project for making place cards from antique forks!
If done right, black and gold never goes out of fashion and would be a stunning starting point for a black tie wedding….but seeing as I don’t have a wedding to plan I’ll just have to let it inspire this years New Years Eve party!
