Just because Winters in Ireland tend to be cold and grey doesn’t mean your winter wedding has to be! If you’re looking for a much needed pop of colour, in keeping with the season, why not consider a berry theme?

Red berries are the obvious choice when it comes to Christmas colour, but if you’re looking for something a little more unusual, don’t stick with the expected! Blueberries and blackberries give a rich and intense texture when paired with sherbet pinks and purples. Placing a few berry laden branches in a vase makes a simple yet gorgeous centre piece, or even just pile them up in a tin bucket for some rustic elegance!
If you like the idea of a cool grey palette for your wedding theme, white or yellow berries add just the right zing of colour and balance. The cake is pretty unbelievable right? I can’t say I had ever come across yellow raspberries in Ireland before, but following a bit more digging apparently these ‘champagne raspberries’ are stocked by Tesco in England since August. They’d have great visual impact in a wedding and apparently taste pretty good too, so be on the look out!
All that being said, you can’t really think of berries without juicy red ones coming to mind! For a fresh take on the red berry look, adding in shades of peach make it a theme that works all year round. Piles of fresh cherries and raspberries look so plump and enticing, and could work really well as favours for guests to take home. Apart from inspiring the overall colour scheme you can carry the berry inspiration to your invitations, fashion, bouquet, seating plan, table decor, drinks, and the best bit, dessert!
