This weeks rock and roll real Irish wedding comes from the fantastic Lisa O’Dwyer Photography. Green Doc Martens and a wedding dress?! I think she may just be the coolest bride I have ever seen!
Originally from Austria, Ursula is clearly a girl who knows her own style and mind! The adorable apron you will see further below was made by Ursula herself when she was only eight years old. She was always determined to be a chef when she ‘grew up’ and now she works very successfully as one here, where she lives with her Irish husband Jonathan.
Ursula and Jonathan did a brilliant job of bringing in little unusual and personal touches to their day, without straying completely from simple and classic. Ursula’s blue sashed dress is from de Stafford and I actually had the same bee kurt geiger shoes for my bridesmaids so I love when they pop up in other weddings!
Jonathan is equally career driven and works as a greenskeeper in the beautiful Finnstown House where they had their reception. I love the soft palette and wildflower style that they chose for all the flower decor, they’re a fitting tribute to his green fingers.
Guests travelled from Austria and brought with them their own wedding customs. Ursula’s aunt and uncle went all out and arrived in traditional dress and carried a beautiful traditional Austrian bouquet. Such a lovely detail!
Their ceremony took place in Crookstown Co. Kildare where harpist and soprano Rachel Reid from Soprano Sounds enhanced the whole atmosphere.
Jonathan couldn’t have the ceremony go by without the presence of their two gorgoues boxers! Lisa O’Dwyer got adorable images of them all. Not an easy feat to combine two dogs with wedding attire, but as you can see it can be done! So all you animal lovers out there, don’t be afraid to suggest including your pets in your big day if it’s something that’s important to you.
They were lucky enough to get a beautiful day in Finnstown House, but as you can see from all the details, even on a rainy day there’s plenty of lovely photo opportunities, not least with the resident peacocks!
I adore this image! Such a intimate moment caught in time, and you can feel the love and joy just glowing from them. I don’t whether it’s the Austrian connection but the photos below really remind me of a scene in the Sound of Music where Liesl and Rolf secretly meet in the gazebo and share their first kiss! Music nerdiness I know, but maybe there’s some other Sound of Music fans out there who know what I mean!
The adorable personal details continued into the evening, where they named the guest tables after places they had been and favourite band Ac/Dc! Another fab idea is to get your photographer to take a photo of you with a thank you sign which will be the ideal thank you card for your guests long after the big day.
Thanks Lisa for sharing and to Ursula and Jonathan for showing us how a little thought, and indiviual touches can make the world of difference to you and your guests!
