Having started the week with some striking headpiece inspiration from Ksenia Golub, I thought it would be nice to wrap it up with a taste of another bridal headpiece trend, floral garlands!
When my mum got married thirty years ago it was all the rage for brides to wear a crown of flowers on their wedding day, and she walked up the aisle adorned with peach carnations and delicate daisies.
While connotations of hippy chic are often associated with this look…(sorry if that Sandie Thom song immediately comes to mind, it’s been stuck in my head all evening!) Don’t let that deter you from experimenting with your own version. Nothing spells romance like fresh blossoms and I think it immediately brings an elegant fairytale twist to your look.
You can create as much or as little drama as you like depending on the size and amount of flowers you use. If you want a pretty and delicate seventies inspired garland, stick with small flowers and leave your hair free flowing. If wild but modern is the only way to go then just check out the impact of the stunning peony confection created by Sarah Winward.
It’s definitely not for the shrinking violet but I’d love to see an Irish bride rock this look!
