I’m so excited to share Style Serendipity’s first real wedding today and you’re in for a treat!
Sona of Lila’s photography captured the luminous wedding of Caitlin & John, who travelled from Australia to celebrate their big day with family members in Ireland. With three young sons, they were eager to make them the guests of honour!
We wanted our boys to be involved. We had them in suits the same as their dads suit and they were our ‘best men’ on the booklet, no bridesmaids just them!
They kept it very much an intimate affair, with less than 30 guests in attendance. I love that they weren’t afraid to think outside the box, keeping the celebration simple and personal from start to finish. As they rented a marquee in gardens of John’s family home, they were free to tailor the menu to suit all ages. Highlights for little guests included animal shaped fairy bread, fish and chips in paper cones and a do it yourself ice-cream buffet. The adults were treated to an Australasian fusion silver service.
Having captured a variety of stunning shots among the apple trees, Sona couldn’t quite believe her ears when John suggested they continue the shoot in a nearby well, coming prepared with wellies in hand.
You may have twigged that I have a certain fondness for wellies following my own wedding welly experience in Gougane Barra, but I think it takes a very special bride to happily wander into a well in her wedding dress! Clearly John and Caitlin are no ordinary bride and groom and weren’t even deterred when they realised (too late!) that there was a hole in one of John’s wellies!
I think you’ll agree the effort was well worth it. They now have a set of beautifully unique photos that I’m sure will bring many smiles for years to come!
